New Driver Training

Teens want to get their drivers license.

Parent want their teens to become safe, intelligent, courteous and accident free drivers for life!

At SOLID we know that the real work begins once your teen gets their license. That’s why we partner with both parents and teens to provide the SOLID skills to accomplish both goals.

License Requirements

The state of Connecticut requires all new drivers under the age of 18 to complete 30 hours of classroom training at a licensed school (commercial driving or secondary) or 22 hours of classroom training at home plus an 8 hour Safe Driving Practices course at a licensed school (commercial driving or secondary). All new drivers must also successfully complete 40 hours of practice driving (behind-the-wheel).

Learner permit holders are eligible to apply for a driver’s license after they have held the permit for at least 120 days if they completed the 30 hours of classroom instruction and 8 of the 40 hours of behind-the-wheel practice driving with a Connecticut licensed commercial/secondary driving school. Learner permit holders who completed the 22 hours of home training will be eligible to take the test after holding the permit for 180 days.

SOLID Skills can provide the training you need to get your license and to become a safe, intelligent, courteous, accident free driver for life.  We offer many options – SOLID 38, SOLID 30, SOLID Drug/Alcohol and Safe Driving Practices, and SOLID Hour.
